Oakville Driveway Entrance Permits

The Town of Oakville requires a building permit for most renovation, construction or demolition projects. A permit is needed to make sure the project follows the requirements of the Ontario Building Code, the Town of Oakville Zoning By-law and any other approvals. A Driveway Entrance Permit is needed for any project constructing, altering, relocating or modifying an entrance adjacent to a driveway.

This dataset includes over 400 driveway entrance permits issued by Oakville Building Services since 2018. The data fields of permits include permit number, permit date, current status of the permit, property address, permit description, etc. A permit may by initiated by owner, contractor, architect, hydro companies. Each permit data is linked to its property address point data, and also other data such as site alteration permits, street occupation permits, excavation permits, ServiceOakville service requests, etc.

Statistics

This dataset includs 400 driveway entrance permits issued by the Building Services of the Town of Oakville since 2018. The number of permits decreased slightly in 2019 comparing with 2018, but then grows significantly year over year. It increases 195% in 2020, 116% in 2021 and 30% in 2022. In each year, there are ususally more permits issued in Feburary to April than other months, especially winter months.

The street with the most number of permits is Lakeshore Rd W, followed by Rebecca St.
