Name: Stephen Dunn Rating: 4 Date: 2013-04-16 Review: Great school, they have more funding per student than any other board. This allows them to have extra staff and more funding for teaching materials.
If one parent is not as strong in French it can be a struggle. Everything including home work and communication to the parents is in French only. This school board is very strict in not having any communication in English. They are very strict on this one thing at my view the detriment of the kids but this is just my view.
The front office staff is very supportive and willing to speak English. However, many of the teachers only speak French. A non-Francophone parent can feel a bit distant from the education of their children at times.
The funny part is that a lot of the songs, books and films are translations from English. The French teaching is about the language only and does not have much in the way of any French culture. Very odd in some cases, students learning about English culture via books translated into French?
Overall worth the trouble but best to go in understanding he challenges. |
