Overview

This dataset includes over 76,000 service requests received by ServiceOakville by phone, email or through the website since 2018. Each request information contains case number, category and sub-category, case type, status, and the location of the request. This request dataset is linked to Oakville address point dataset, and other datasets such as various bulding permits, property information, etc.

The Town of Oakville, via ServiceOakville, handles service requests (or cases) for issues about garbage, graffiti, park maintenance, and road and sidewalk maintenance. The service requests can be made by phone, email or through the website. The service types inlude (1) Home, Property, Taxes; (2) Parks, Harbours & Trails; (3) Roads, Sidewalks & Traffics; (4) Trees & Woodlands; (5) Other Services. The service requests are categorized as Works Operations, Forestry, Parks Operations, Traffic, Permits, Inspections and Road Corridor, Transportation Strategy, Finance, Harbours, Engineering and Construction, Park Planning and Development, Building Services, Facilities and Construction Management, etc.

This dataset includes over 76,000 service requests received by ServiceOakville since 2018. The data fields of requests include case number, case type, category and sub-category, case status, created data, the location of the request, ward, etc. Each request data is linked to its property address point data, and also other data such as various building permits.

This dataset includs 76,000 service requests issued by the Building Services of the Town of Oakville since 2018. The number of requests was around 12000 per year from 2018 to 2020, and then it starts growing gradually, by 14% in 2021 and 10% in 2022. In each year, there are ususally more requests received in March to Jun than other months, especially winter months.

The most requested service type is Roads, Sidewalks & Traffics, accounting for 52.23% of all requests. The other service types include Trees & Woodlands (38.03%), Parks, Harbours & Trails (21.51%), Home, Property, Taxes (7.19%), and Other Services (3.61%). The most requested service category is Works Operations (39.25% of all requests), followed by Forestry (38.03%) and Parks Operations (20.34%). The other mostly requested categories include Traffic (9.68%), Permits, Inspections and Road Corridor (4.36%), ServiceOakville (3.61%), Transportation Strategy (3.30%), Finance (1.71%), etc.

The street with the most number of service requests is Lakeshore Rd W, followed by Lakeshore Rd E and Rebecca St. The other prominent street names include Trafalgar Rd, Sixth Line, Bridge Rd, Bronte Rd, Devon Rd, Glenashton Dr, and Westoak Trails Blvd.
